At Goloka Community School, we seek to give each child a strong educational foundation that will inspire them to become lifelong learners.
We aim to uncover their individual gifts in an environment that sparks spiritual joy and fosters a deep understanding of living in tune with Krishna and the natural world He has created.
"If one desires his real welfare, he must associate with devotees and saintly persons and in this way rectify the material condition of his life. "- Caitanya-caritāmṛta (CC Madhya 22.54)
One of the most important aspects of spiritual life is sanga (community). At Goloka Community School, we are committed to facilitating loving relationships between families in our community. By teaching how to have loving exchanges, encouraging conflict resolution, and setting examples of empathy, we guide each child in creating healthy and meaningful relationships with others.
Bhakti (devotional love) is woven through everything we do at Goloka Community School. GCS offers daily meditation, sanga circles, and lessons on spiritual scriptures such as the Srimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad Gita. By hearing and reading stories from these ancient texts daily, students exercise their ability to understand the world through a mindful perspective. Through learning how to care for our Gaura Nitai deities, our students learn how to care for their innermost selves. Our school is one of mindfulness and connection - a place where intellectual, practical, and artistic gifts can all be engaged in service.
HOLDING LOVING BOUNDARIES
At Goloka Community School we focus on building a relationship with each child and with this rapport, we help to guide the children to make choices that positively impact our classrooms and community. We listen to the student's input, reflect with them about classroom behavior, and hold firm and loving boundaries.
Teachers and class facilitators maintain a loving environment and hold boundaries with natural consequences and positive reinforcement for behavior which benefits the classroom community. Each teacher is required to complete the LifeWays course, "Discipline with Loving Awareness.”
At Goloka Community School we strive to only use the best teaching materials and curriculum. Early childhood classes, facilitated by the Oak Meadows curriculum, emphasize nature and follow a rhythm to establish a strong foundation of learning. Spiritual and moral values are instilled through songs, stories, and hands-on learning.
Children 6 and up are able to register for as many classes as they need to support them on their learning journey. Whether your child is a homeschooler who would like to take part in individual events and classes or your child would thrive participating in our full range of academic programs, we are here for them and for you. Core subjects are taught through the Oak Meadows curriculum as well as carefully curated materials and books that support the values of the bhakti path. The Oak Meadows curriculum supports practical skills, community, and nature while facilitating academic proficiency. We are committed to keeping balance in our classes through manageable class sizes and providing options for how students can engage their unique propensities.
